Mercedes Schlapp doesn't have an easy gig as the White House strategic communications adviser. As White House's Strategist Communications Advisor Mercedes Schlapp faces a myriad of challenges. The president is the director of his own communications. There are numerous legal matters that may affect messaging strategies. Cabinet Secretaries are involved in controversy. Schlapp remains focused all the time, working in close collaboration with White House policy and political teams as well as the Shops and legislative affairs. In the beginning, she has concentrated on school safety issues, addiction infrastructure, and trade with the world. She has not had much contact with the media in the job she has. In March, she garnered lots of attention from the media because her name was mentioned as a potential candidate in the race to replace Hope Hicks in the role of communications director. The White House advisor to strategic communications has to deal numerous legal issues that could disrupt the messaging policy of the administration along with Cabinet secretaries who are involved in their own scandals. Schlapp did not change her goals, and she collaborated closely in conjunction with White House policy and political teams. So far, Schlapp has concentrated on school safety concerns, addiction infrastructure, trade, and addiction. In her role, Schlapp is not in contact with many journalists. There was a great deal of press attention after she was announced as a candidate to replace Hope Hicks, the communications director. The fight has been fierce. Schlapp allied with Tony Sayegh. He was an aspirant. The two began fighting in the media. Schlapp stated that after the Washington Examiner ran a story which contained negative criticisms of Sayegh she had a discussion with him.
